Who Is Mehdi Gmar?

With a robust background in engineering, Mehdi Gmar earned his engineering degree in physics from ENSPG (currently known as Grenoble INP – Phelma) in 1995. His scholarly path further led him to acquire a doctorate in nuclear instrumentation by 2000, marking the beginning of a prominent career devoted to research and technological advancements. An acclaimed expert, Mehdi spent two decades at the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), focusing on nuclear instrumentation and managing technological research. His profound experience crafted a foundation suitable for the intricate demands of his ensuing roles.
The New Leadership Role at CNRS Innovation
On June 1, 2022, Mehdi Gmar was appointed director of CNRS Innovation, the valorization branch of the CNRS. Tasked with leveraging the knowledge of researchers for greater societal impact, his leadership promises a drive towards optimized innovation strategies. This responsibility aligns with his previous role as a research and industry advisor to Frédérique Vidal, the former French Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.
